New Job or Payed position
So I stated a new job this past week and have been going through some training. My blog has not been on my mind much lately.
But I did want to share this info i received from Training... at XXX company
Words not to use
Handicapped, Disabled, Crippled, or Gimp = Person with disability
Mentally retarded or retarded = Person with cognitive disability
Person "suffers from " or "victim or" = He or she is an individual with...
Blind = Person who has a visual disability
(The next one is just too much)
Handicap parking = Accessible parking ( isnt all parking accessible?)
Dwarf or Midget = Person of short stature (i thought they preferred little people)
Wheelchair bound or confined = Person who uses a wheelchair.... (thats a good one)
The Deaf = Person with hearing related disability
A Mute = Person with speech disability
A Mongoloid idiot or mongoloid = Person with Down Syndrome
I have a few things to say about this list but im short for time... hopefully tonight i can add a bit. I just wanted to get that out there to share asap

I always find it difficult to remember the words that are politically correct to use. They seem to change all the time, how are we supposed to keep up with that??
Differentlty-abled I think is the way to go at the moment. But don't quote me on that lol

I used to work for a company where you could get fined $500 for saying "foreign". You had to say "international". PC-ness drives me crazy sometimes.
If "fatty-ass sh*t pants" (Oh excuse me: a person with ample weight) was on that list, I'd have thought your new job was at McDonalds.
Handicapped, spastic, retard, mongol, cripple or gimp are seen as INCREDIBLE insults here in the UK. Disabled (bound, confined) are also seen as condescending terms, I don't understand why the deaf and the blind are upset at being called just that, but otherwise, well, maybe the awkward replacement phrases are a bit silly, but the ones they replace are just dreadful.
But then if one feminist habitually called you penis bound, a victim of testosterone, a sexual retard, how long would it take you to want to kill women?
P.S. Handicapped is a term which stems from when any disability consigned you to begging on the streets to stay alive, holding your cap out for change.
Guess you'll just have to learn! Cheer up - an American company took over a publishers here and fired the deputy manager - he'd made a secretary burst into tears. All he did was ask her if she'd got a rubber in her drawer, but over here thats an eraser....
